Outcome from the Kosice 'Speakers Corner' workshop (collaboration with Architect Robert Mantho)

Images of the structure on Main Street Kosice in Slovakia. This work emerged from an invitation by Martin Uhrik (KOD Architects) to facilitate a cross-disciplinary workshop which would consider the potential of 'Speakers Corner' in Kosice. Students from the fields of art, design, architecture, sociology, and philosophy were then brought together for an intense collaborative workshop experience lasting one week, where concepts were developed in relation to this complex theme of democracy and 'free speech' . The three final concepts from the groups were then presented to KOD who realised the final work in September 2008. The structure promotes 'speakers corner' as a point of (inter)action and reflection. Its myriad function allows flexibility and transformation in relation to user and audience.
