Andre Dekker mentioned some research he remembers reading about which involved using roads to produce power. Obviously roads are perfect for absorbing heat energy so maybe it was something to do with geothermal heat exchange. I will have to investigate. I do remember reading about how the US military used rail tracks as radio antennae during the cold war and this seemed like a really innovative use of existing material and objects. We should be exploring how we can do more of this.. going beyond the idea of houses being good platforms for wind turbines and solar panels, towards the concept of bridges, pavements and buildings all contributing to energy production (or conversion) allowing us to optimise the natural energy flows they are subject to through human traffic and cars, as well as the natural forces of the climate.
