I visited many allotments in Stavanger and was amazed to see them being used and valued like second homes. All were equipped with running water and electricity, many even had satelite dishes and cable TV. They are sold from one owner to the next with the allotment organisation getting a share of the profits. I saw several valued at over £25,000 and there is a competitive market and long waiting lists. This is similar to the UK - the big difference is the mentality of 'reuse' and not spending a penny on your allotment. In Norway People seem keen to invest resources as well as time.
